The present work was written during a unique moment for the refugee phenomenon of forced displacement worldwide, in Europe and in Greece. The aim and ambition of the book is to assist in the effective protection of asylum seekers in Greece, through a practical perspective of what the implementer of refugee law needs to know. At the same time, it is the first attempt at a holistic approach to the subject after the recent increased migratory-refugee flows and the EU-Turkey Joint Declaration. Within this framework, complex, recent, overlapping, and often difficult-to-identify provisions of the national/european legal framework are analyzed in two parts, along with all the phases that the asylum seeker goes through (from admission, reception, pre-registration, submission of the asylum application, evaluation at first and second instance, detention for exceptional reasons, access to basic services, resettlement, return, or integration).
Regarding the structure of the work, it is noted that at the beginning of each chapter, detailed diagrams presenting the current regulatory framework and asylum procedures are presented, followed by interpretive analysis.
