Aristophanes is the great creator of ancient Greek comedy, a man who, with poetic grace, impressive boldness, and a critical spirit, satirized the ills of his homeland and his time.

Although he draws his themes from the contemporary data, he captures the timelessness of human problems. From his rich body of work, we have preserved eleven comedies: The Thesmophoriazousae, Acharnians, Knights, Clouds, Wasps, Peace, Birds, Lysistrata, Frogs, Ecclesiazusae, Wealth.
