Description

Description

For more than forty years, Architecture: Form, Space, and Order has been the classic introduction to the essential vocabulary of architectural design.

The revised and enriched 4th American - 1st Greek edition tracks new trends and developments while presenting the fundamental elements of space and form. It is designed to encourage critical thinking in order to promote a deeper understanding of architecture.

Architecture: Form, Space, and Order helps students and professionals delve into the principles of architectural design by examining how space and form are arranged in the environment. It is offered through this edition for a new reading. The reading of a world that is born and exists through movement.

The line is born from the motion of the point. The plane from the motion of the line. The volume from the motion of the surface. Movement takes on creative dimensions. Form is not now composed, nor constructed, but born. It is the result of movement, just like life itself and the world in which it develops.

This movement can be simulated through mechanical and digital mediation which the author directly and indirectly accepts in some of his new designs. However, the main body of his work follows the speed of the hand, allowing time for the eye to see, the mind to think, and the hand to choose. This seems to have an invaluable significance for which contemporary educational environments appear to be beginning to become sensitized.

Very useful book, incredibly helpful especially for the first years of architecture, as it introduces you to very basic spatial and morphological concepts.
