This text is an attempt to address existing questions about whether the covering of certain parts of the human body is a religious obligation for Muslims or if such practices are merely local customs that, although incorporated into the daily lives of the followers of the Islamic faith, do not constitute a religious mandate derived from the direct legal sources of Islam.
