Among the 250 or more interpretive Homilies of Saint John Chrysostom on the Old and New Testament, there are also 90 Homilies (commentaries) "On Saint Matthew the Evangelist." This volume contains Homilies II to IX, referring to the genealogy of the Lord, the conception and birth from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, the Magi from Persia, the star that guided them, Herod, the adoration, the gifts, the flight to Egypt, and the massacre of the infants.
The Homilies on the Evangelist Matthew were delivered in Antioch when Saint John Chrysostom was still a presbyter, between the years 390-398 (most likely in 390).
