The texts in this collection are published to mark the 100th anniversary of the victory of the October Revolution. They aim to shed light on several historical aspects of the theoretical and practical actions of the Bolsheviks and have been selected to bring the reader into contact with this relatively lesser-known facet of the Bolshevik struggle – their combative experience.
As in any revolution, a revolutionary ideology and revolutionary decisions were formed, along with a force of determined individuals to fight by any means and at any cost for its success. The Bolshevik Party managed to operate as a revolutionary party throughout all the pre-revolutionary years, with the corresponding principles of organization and function, as well as the required level of combat capability.
This combat capability allowed it to forge revolutionary bonds with the struggling workers' and people's forces, as well as to resist the practical difficulties it faced in its actions (economic, state, and paramilitary violence). It was a fighting party.
