This study addresses the teaching of the 'Confession' of the Pan-Orthodox Synod of Iasi (1642/43) regarding the transformation of the Precious Gifts into the body and blood of Christ in light of the Canonical Tradition.
The term "transubstantiation" of the material of the Eucharistic Mystery is contrasted with the canonical term "substance," which places at the center of interest the fact of the "union" of the living body of the faithful with the "body of God."
