All peoples had ethical teachings, but they did not study them with the spirit of mechanical obligation that has been imposed by the ethics of our time.

These teachings had a radically religious character and ontological goals, meaning they aimed to spiritually complete the human being and solve all of their issues, including those we now refer to as metaphysical.

The Dhammapada is such a masterful Buddhist text, whose study was a way to realize high goals. In it, Buddhism and its spiritual values are presented with unique beauty and clarity, resulting in this text also being a significant literary work.
