I had been a little afraid of the negative reviews, but there were also several positive ones. I have had the disk for over a year, which is not a long time for a mechanical disk, but it doesn't make any noise or increase temperatures, as I read, and it is also very fast for a mechanical one.
Personally, I am satisfied with any mechanical disk that reaches over 100mb/sec. This specific one reaches 190mb/sec in my system, so I am very satisfied. I am going to buy a second one since I filled up this one.

In my tower, I have decade-old hard drives (Samsung & WD Black) to see if they will last as long!

First of all, before buying a hard drive, check if it is SMR or CMR, google to see the differences. Unfortunately, most new ones are SMR and although they have a larger cache, they are actually much slower than a CMR with a 64 MB cache !!!! This one here is a CMR that makes it reliable for good speeds and ideal for a hard drive that you use on a daily basis with many recordings. I still have one with 1 terabyte with very good temperatures & steady write speeds at 180-190 Mb. For hard drives, the speeds are excellent. It was mainly purchased for backup but also for some games. I have come to love Toshiba drives, I consider them more reliable than Western Digital drives of the same category, of course, and a class above the unreliable Seagate drives. Buy it with your eyes closed.

  • For me, Toshiba is the top hard disk manufacturing company. I chose this specific disk because of its price. I read several reviews about the noise it makes, but I believe the noise is within normal limits for a mechanical disk. As for the speed, it is slightly faster than the Seagate ones I have. As for the reliability of this specific disk, we will see, as I have only been using it for a few days. Quite a good hdd especially for its price. I can't say if it's reliable since I've only been using it for a few days and it's been performing very well! File transfer was done without any problems and even though it was working continuously for 10 hours, it didn't exceed a temperature of 40c. The sound is moderate, like an extra fan, and it doesn't bother me at all.

I decided to buy a TOSHIBA once, it is the cheapest in 3TB 7200RPM and it is so noisy that at first I thought it was defective. It buzzes so much that it drives me crazy. I can even hear it with headphones on, so if noise bothers you, avoid buying it and go for SEAGATE or WD instead.

I also had the older series which has been working for 3 years without a problem. I have 2 of these for a month now in a NAS in RAID. No problems so far and very good speeds. They make a bit more noise than other drives but they are value for money. Let me mention, as stated on the site, that Toshiba's 7,200 RPM drives are CMR and the more entry-level SMR is at 5,400 RPM. So they have strong performance even in continuous use without breaks and lots of random writes... (https://www.toshiba-storage.com/products/toshiba-internal-hard-drives-p300/?pdf)
If they don't hold up over time, I will come back

Reliable (until proven otherwise), affordable, fast. He is the second one I trust for my files. I have already had the first one for 2 years. This one will work in Raid 1 on the first one. Always make backups, don't trust anything. Finally, after a lot of searching, I discovered that these drives have SMR (Shingled Magnetic Recording) technology. As a result, the Raid I wanted to do is a no-go. I was late in finding out, but also because they are so slow.

It was purchased for €67 (July 2019) to meet my storage needs, as the old drive I replaced was full. I chose it because it is the best possible value for money in this capacity and the only one that offers 7200rpm at this price. It was formatted as Ext4 (for use in a Linux environment) and using gnome-disk-utility, I measured an average read/write speed of 162MB/s and 100MB/s respectively, with peak speeds of 220MB/s and 132MB/s respectively. In a tower with good airflow and room temperature (July 2019) without air conditioning, it has an idle temperature of 36°C, while after transferring about 0.75TB of data in a row, it reached 40°C. Personally, I couldn't hear it over the fans in my case (while I can hear an old WD black drive that I have). So far, my impressions are excellent. I am considering buying two more to set up a RAID5 array. Its reliability remains to be proven, so if anything changes, I will update in the future.

Very good hard disk and at a very good price for the capacity it offers. I have this one and another one at 2TB for 2 years and so far I am very satisfied. It offers excellent transfer speeds for an HDD (no comparison to SSD, of course), with transfer speeds reaching 120-160MB. Also, Toshiba is very reliable, I have 2 external Toshiba drives (3+ years) and 2 internal ones (2 years) and none of them have failed.
The only drawback is that they tend to get slightly hotter than normal temperatures (~42C) if they don't have a fan blowing directly on them. With a fan in front of them (intake), they stay at a comfortable 35C.

I have the 3T. I was very satisfied. I used it in a box as an external hard drive for backup about 2 times a month. In exactly 3 years, it left us times.

I have been working with the P300 for a little while to have a comprehensive view, but I have acquired around 10 of them in 2019 and 2020 (1TB, 2TB, and 3TB) and so far I am very satisfied.

I have three of the three TB hard drives purchased two to three years ago. They are relatively quiet. They slightly increase the temperature, but nothing worrisome. I doubt I will change the brand of hard drive as long as HDDs still exist.

Although I have owned it for almost a month, I currently have no complaints. I bought it after a recommendation from a sound engineer friend, and I think it sounds amazing.

I received two times discs that were making a noise (hitting) during the search. It's like the head was getting stuck somewhere. I don't know if it's a manufacturing issue or some incompatibility with my motherboard

  • I had been a little afraid of the negative reviews, but there were also several positive ones.
