Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun for Xbox One combines tactics and stealth in Japan during the Edo period. The player controls a team of five specialists, each with different abilities, and chooses how to infiltrate castles, monasteries in the snowy mountains, and hidden camps in the forest.

Hayato is a ninja who uses a sword and shuriken, Mugen is a samurai with a more direct fighting style, Aiko disguises herself as a geisha, Yuki sets traps, and Takuma takes on enemies from a distance with his sniper rifle. During missions, the characters develop relationships and face personal challenges. Tactics include moving from rooftop to rooftop and climbing tall buildings to launch attacks from above.
