An extensive and wonderful hymn of our Orthodox Church to the Virgin Mary, which is chanted in parts during the Commpline every Friday of Great Lent and in its entirety on the fifth Friday in remembrance of the event of the City’s salvation from the siege of the Persians and Arabs in 626, attributed to the help of the Virgin Mary.
