Description

From the 19th century to the present day, the evolution of portable firearms has been spectacular. It is no coincidence that during this period, the most significant construction innovations emerged, which still govern the operation of weapons today.

This richly illustrated guide, filled with numerous photographs – many of which are original – includes over 220 firearms, accompanied by the history of their evolution, their adoption and use by various military or police forces around the world, as well as their main technical characteristics.

Special emphasis was placed on including weapons of particular "Greek" interest, thereby providing the Greek reader with a comprehensive, as far as possible, guide to the most famous portable weapons from around the world.

The book Famous Portable Weapons from around the world is, from whichever perspective one may look at it, the best work on weapons. It is an excellently organized book. It includes, at the beginning of the book, besides the foreword, a glossary of military terminology and the most common abbreviations. The weapons are grouped according to their type (e.g. all the revolvers together) and alphabetically sorted so that you can immediately find what you are looking for.

The editing of the edition is quite good, although the book has some errors, but few nonetheless. Each weapon described by the author has one or more high-quality photographs. Below, there is a small text describing the historical evolution of the weapons, their adoption and use by various military and police units. At the bottom of each page, there are the technical specifications of each weapon. Emphasis has also been placed on including weapons of particular "Greek" interest.

The book is not luxurious. It is a work with a soft cover, laminated, but its binding is of good quality. The pages of the book are on glossy paper and are thick and very durable. The whole volume looks and feels sturdy. The book contains more than 220 weapons and is very comprehensive. Only a few weapons have escaped the author's attention.

The book is much better than other foreign language books on weapons in terms of not only images and luxury but also information and substance. If you are looking for a very good book on portable weapons that will fully inform you and captivate you, look no further!
