Description

Top Quality Image

From the Arctic twilight to the world of the depths, the ability to respond to low-light conditions in particular is essential for capturing the perfect image. A new image sensor, with exceptional high-speed and high-sensitivity performance, combined with our latest TruePic VIII image processor, ensures better image quality than ever before, with improved dynamic range and response time.

Field Sensor System

In combination with the free OI.Track app, on the new TG-5 you can add GPS, compass, altimeter, and temperature data to your photos and videos and transfer them via Wi-Fi to your smartphone or tablet.

Reliable Tough Performance

The double protective glass is just another addition to the known durability features, so you can take photos even in the most adverse natural conditions. Sudden changes in temperature can cause condensation on the lenses. The TG-5 prevents this phenomenon thanks to its double protective glass, so nothing can stop you.

Get closer than ever before

The image magnification of up to 7x of the advanced macro system with four interchangeable functions of the TG-5 (with Microscope, Microscope Control, Focus Stacking, and Focus Bracketing functions) makes your desire a reality. In Microscope mode, the camera can capture subjects as close as 1cm, while in Microscope Control mode, you can change the magnification ratio up to 44.4x with the zoom lever.

In addition, two optional accessories are available, the LED Light Guide LG-1 and the Flash Diffuser FD-1, which maximize the capabilities of the macro interchangeable system. Take impressive close-up shots, as if you were photographing through a microscope.

Register in RAW format

With the TG-5 you can create the perfect image after shooting. Even outside, you can edit the images within the camera. Save your images in RAW format and use the provided Olympus Viewer 3 software to adjust parameters such as exposure, contrast, white balance, and color balance.

Presented as indestructible (Tough), but unfortunately it is very vulnerable when used for underwater shots. Its average lifespan is 2 years, extremely short for its high price. It takes fast shots, has good image quality, but I never expected it to become useless so quickly. In order for the warranty to be valid, maintenance and waterproofing need to be done every year, which means significant cost. Additionally, there is no official company service, only authorized partners, with all that entails. Customer service is nonexistent in Greece.

the worst thing about the camera. I bought the same one. After 30 minutes in the water, it got stuck open. I removed the battery and nothing. Olympus told me that they wanted 10€ less than the original purchase price to repair it, claiming that the waterproof underwater camera was out of warranty because it got water inside. I had to take legal action, but

Reading the comments above, I would like to mention that it has a time lapse of up to 300 shots and its macro is superb, but with a tripod of course. At 300€, it is now a great opportunity. I bought it almost 1.5 years ago for nearly 500€!

It is the ideal camera for extreme sports, summer vacations, and family moments. It is waterproof and resistant to falls, making it perfect for the sea and diving. In winter, I take it with me skiing as it is also freeze-proof. The image quality is quite good during the day, but it is not recommended for nighttime shots unless you use its flash. It is definitely better than a mobile phone. It has fast burst and Pro Capture functions, making it perfect for daytime extreme sports. The only drawback is that I would like better 4k video quality so that you don't need a GoPro.

    Subject: OLYMPUS service
After purchasing, within a few days, I sent the TG5 for service because it had a serious problem. The use in the sea was minimal, at a maximum depth of 3m. After a considerable amount of time in service, when I received it back, I tested it out of the water and it was fine. Yesterday, on 8.6.19, was the first time after the service that I submerged it (1m) in the sea. Even though both caps were 100% closed, water entered the camera, resulting in it becoming unusable. This time, I will demand a replacement.

On 25.6.19, within the warranty period, I received a brand new TG 5 complete with all accessories from OLYMPUS.

The menu is unacceptable! The machine has top-notch hardware, and the menu blocks it! They have made everything automatic-semi-automatic and it doesn't let you do what you want! Imagine, there is no timelapse, only a strange one that only records bright objects that change position, nonsense... I didn't buy a GoPro to have settings... it doesn't even have a Manual mode!!! Unacceptable from such a company. A proper firmware update should be released immediately! Also, it doesn't have many accessories like a dome and a proper action cam-type mount... and everything is extremely expensive!
