Mudde and Rovira Kaltwasser have written extensively about populism in Europe and Latin America, and now in this brief volume, they use their knowledge to provide a useful definition of a vague concept, and present an extensive survey of where and why populist movements and parties arise.

This is an excellent introduction to this phenomenon.
