Greek as a foreign or second language is the central focus of the studies included in this volume. The interest is centered on Greek spoken as a second language by minority students, that is, non-Greek-speaking students, who attend either majority or minority education and have, for the most part, Turkish as their mother tongue. The research field is limited to the phonological level and, more specifically, to issues of teaching and learning the syllabic and suprasyllabic structure of Greek. The primary goal of the studies is to highlight the difficulties that arise in teaching the phonological system of Greek as a foreign language at the level of syllabic structure and stress, to approach and interpret them theoretically, and finally, to propose teaching methods for addressing them.
