Description

On the morning after the elections of September 16, 2007, which took place six months before the end of the Parliament's term and resulted in a victory for Mr. Costas Karamanlis but with a "rejection of the political class," according to the French Liberation, three other foreign newspapers (La Republica, The Guardian, New York Times) referred to the "bond scandal" as one of the two main causes of the diminishing parliamentary power of New Democracy.

Five other foreign publications (DER SPIEGEL, Mirror, BBC World Service, Observateur, The Economist) indicated that the resolution of Greece's pension problem was the top priority for the "new government."

Both issues are discussed by journalist Costas Kolmer in the present book, which was primarily written before the elections but published afterward, "to avoid influencing them." Although "no one is a prophet in their own country," the author timely highlighted through articles the immense significance of the "bond scandal," which everyone is now discovering - except for the government, which is making strenuous efforts to cover it up.
