Description & Specifications

Analytical Chemistry, the science of measurement, is concerned with the chemical character of matter, at both qualitative and quantitative levels. The goal of this book is to provide students with the opportunity to acquire a solid background in the fundamental principles of chemistry that are primarily relevant to Analytical Chemistry.

Additionally, it is hoped that, with the knowledge gained from studying this book, students will be able to develop the necessary skills to solve Analytical Chemistry problems in a quantitative manner. Finally, efforts are made to teach students the laboratory skills that will equip them with confidence and abilities to obtain high-fidelity analytical experimental data.

In the second edition of the book, the chapter titles have been retained, but the book has essentially been rewritten from scratch. Besides correcting typographical and numerical errors, extensive restructuring and correction of oversights throughout all chapters of the book have been carried out. Outdated concepts have been eliminated, and all chapters have been enriched with the most modern contemporary views regarding the fundamental principles of Analytical Chemistry.

It is considered that the two best methods for effective learning are: the presentation of questions, both solved and unsolved problems at the end of each chapter, and the laboratory experience gained in the lab, concerning topics addressed in the book. Thus, at the end of chapters 1-8, a large number of questions that were missing from the first edition are presented, and the number of unsolved problems in these chapters has also been increased.

The answers to the questions and the study of a large number of carefully selected solved and unsolved problems constitute one of the main pedagogical tools for understanding the concepts that have been taught. The ultimate goal of the knowledge acquired is its application in solving real analytical problems.
