With the recent social security law, a Unified Agency for Social Security (E.F.K.A.) has been established, which includes both employees with a salaried employment relationship (salaried workers) and certain categories of self-employed individuals - freelancers. In other words, almost all individuals subject to mandatory social security.

At the same time, many provisions of the social security legislation have been modified, primarily concerning the method and coverage in insurance, the percentage of contributions, the increase in retirement age limits, the conditions for granting pensions, as well as the calculation of their amount, national-contributory pensions, supplementary insurance, the employment of retirees, the granting of temporary pensions, the adjustment of pensions, the payment of E.K.A.S., parallel insurance, optional insurance, consecutive insurance, multiple employment, cohabitation agreements, adjustments to pensions, reductions in contributions, etc.

Following the above, it was deemed necessary to issue a new edition that would not only be fully updated but also richer in new topics and interpretative comments. Moreover, from the above, relevant jurisprudence from the Administrative Courts and the Council of State has been included, which authentically interpreted many provisions of the social security legislation, in order to provide as complete a picture as possible of the issues examined.

Additionally, detailed tables of the contribution rates applicable throughout the country are included for all general categories of businesses and insured persons. The publication is completed with numerous footnotes that correlate the provisions of the legislation and the relevant judicial case law, to ensure that the essential elements of Social Security are presented in a unified and concise text. At the end of the work, there is a detailed index of entries.
