Description

Incredible, angelic life, Divine love, brief. “Force of nature” for the “beyond nature.” Prophetic word, rich, heavenly, comforting, personal.

True life stories, simple, like parables, with deep meanings of life and struggle towards God. This Word of His, the Autobiographical, without being altered, without losing its sweetness and simplicity, its beauty, will be the center for us, the people of the world, to spell out the Life and the Word of Him.

Arsenios Eznepidis (the later Saint Paisios) came from Cappadocia and the embrace of Saint Arsenios, with the “exchange” of 1924 - in the most precious exchange - a refugee child of forty days in Mother Greece, a child of pain, to embrace the suffering and to make their pain his own for seventy years and forever.

For his own experience of illness was “the most difficult period of his ascetic life.” That is why he wanted to live a little longer. For love! “Love, love. But if it weren’t for this love, who knows where I would wander.” The renowned Elder Paul of Sinai expressed this to us with emotion: “His life was wonderful. Whatever anyone says about this blessed man is little. He had much love and was non-judgmental. He never condemned people. He never judged anyone. He also had great humility. Above all, it was love.”

In the book you will encounter:

  • The life of Saint Paisios from his birth in Cappadocia until his passing.
  • The teachings and words of the Saint on various topics of Christian life.
  • Information about the people who influenced him and the "divine events" he experienced.

Why We Loved It

  • Accurately presents the life and theological depth of the words of Saint Paisios.
  • Contains testimonies from people who knew him personally, offering an authentic image of him.
  • Written in a simple and understandable way, making it accessible to everyone.

This book is for you if…

Do you want to learn more about the life and work of one of the most important Saints of the 20th century and are looking for a book that combines historical accuracy with spiritual benefit?

I had the good fortune to meet Elder, now Saint Paisios, on the day I officially assumed the position of Civil Governor of Mount Athos, on August 25, 1989. After the truly magnificent ceremony of my installation in the Administration, I felt the need to meet and receive the blessing of Elder Paisios, whom I had not had the opportunity to meet during my previous visits to Mount Athos. Indeed, that first day in the afternoon, I walked alone and reached his particularly humble cell, where I found him alone.

He welcomed me with genuine kindness and simplicity, without exaggeration or compliments. Upon hearing of my position, he showed no surprise; instead, he patted me on the head as if I were a small child.

Then the two of us sat on two small logs of cut trees—since there were no chairs—and he said to me the following words, full of meaning, love, and kindness, which were reflected in his eyes: “My child (note: I was 34 years old at the time), here where the All-Good God and the Most Holy Theotokos have sent you is a blessed place that does not need people with high-level administrative skills. The ‘engine’ you have inside you, because you seem smart and dynamic, you don’t even need to press the button to start it, here where you are. There is no need. Keep that strength, save it within you, because you will need it when you finish your term and return blessed to your work and your family, which you wrongly left behind, because you are very young. These years your little children and your young wife need you (note: my children were then 3 and 6 years old, and my wife was 27).
