The content of this textbook is based on the material of Business Economics I, which is taught at German-speaking universities. Additionally, extensions have been made into more specific areas of Business Economics that were deemed necessary.
Specifically, the second chapter discusses the scientific realm of Business Economics. In this chapter, the fundamental knowledge regarding the methodology of social sciences is presented, as well as the different perspectives and problems related to the approach to scientific truth.
The aforementioned problems of approaching scientific truth lead to the development of the third chapter, which narrows down the scope of the issues by developing orientations within the framework of Business Economics. In total, the four predominant orientations are examined, namely Cybernetics, Conditions, Decision Making, and Behavior.
The fourth chapter deals with the broader variables that affect the shaping of business behavior. The variables pertain to the actors who interact with the business and the systems that surround it. To clarify the relationship among these variables, the goal systems of all participants are developed, and elements of the business environment systems (economic, political, legal, technological, ecological systems) are analyzed.
The fifth chapter standardizes the internal functioning of the business based on Cybernetics. The standardization being performed significantly facilitates the development of the sixth chapter, which pertains to the organization of the unit.
The seventh chapter examines the typology of economic units based on various criteria, such as industry, ownership structure, size, cost structure of production, degree of dependency, legal form, and connections. The aforementioned criteria can lead to the development of additional variables that interpret the behavior of businesses.
The eighth chapter relates to the creation of economic units, giving particular emphasis to the design and realization of the business idea. In this context, practical issues concerning the unit are examined, both during its creation phase and in its early steps.
Finally, the ninth chapter develops the topic of choosing the location for establishment. This topic is examined based on the decision-making orientation and extends to the level of developing supportive units and relocation.
