The writing of this book is based on a more extensive and detailed development of the material included in notes that I provided to students for the course in Number Theory that I have taught at the University of Crete and the University of Athens.

The only mathematics required for understanding the content of this manuscript is that taught in high school, along with the definition of the set N of natural numbers (and by extension, the set Z of integers).
