One hundred and fifty years have passed since March 1821, when our enslaved ancestors, desperate, set out with the slogan "freedom or death" on their greatest and longest adventure of the years under Ottoman rule.

Since that time until today, publications have never ceased, apart from various sources, whether direct or indirect, and general histories that attempt to revive in our imagination that great event.

However, we lacked a concise history of it, written in the lively Modern Greek language, the language of the fighters, and based on the rich findings of historical science. The need for this history was acutely felt, especially after the passage of the first century.

However, the correct dimensions should be given to this history concerning the scope and systematic structure of the material, so that the reader, who does not have the required time to engage with lengthy works, can comfortably read the exposition of events (without their attention being distracted, resulting in reduced interest due to following countless minor conflicts and battles), to gain a clear overview of what transpired and to fully understand the guiding lines of the course of that great milestone in our modern history.
