Under the title "Cyprus in the Crosshairs," the new book by journalist and author Dimitris Konstantakopoulos is published by "InfoGnomon" Editions, with a foreword by the former Ambassador of Greece in Nicosia, Themos Stoforopoulos.

The book also includes the dramatic, personal appeal of Mikis Theodorakis to the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister regarding Cyprus, titled "No to the New Crime!", as well as the opinion of the distinguished Greek constitutional scholar Professor George Kasimatis, President of the International Association of Constitutional Law and former Director of the Legal Office of Prime Minister Andreas Papandreou, on the Geneva Conference.

Both Mikis Theodorakis and the author emphasize the danger of new, irreparable national disasters, as a result of the acceptance by Athens and Nicosia of the Turkish proposal for convening a Five-Party Conference, as well as due to the positions supported by the Greek and Cypriot governments in approaching this conference.

The author thoroughly analyzes these positions, concluding that they inevitably lead to the dissolution of the Republic of Cyprus. He argues that the official rhetoric of the Greek and Cypriot governments regarding Turkish troops and guarantees is nothing more than yet another and even more dangerous attempt to mislead and deceive the Greek people.

The author analyzes why, following the Greek "economic experiment" of loans and memorandums, a Cypriot "geopolitical experiment" is now emerging, largely as a continuation of it, and what the possible and tragic consequences will be not only in Cyprus but also in Greece.

In the 238 pages of the book, Mr. Konstantakopoulos analyzes the reasons that render the Geneva Conference a coup aimed at bypassing and overturning the will of the Cypriot citizens, with the ultimate goal of dismantling the democratic regime on the island and the very state of Cyprus.

He refers to the two historical precedents of the Conferences of 1955 and 1959, while presenting the recent developments in the Middle East and the EU, explaining how the Conference fits into the ongoing – but also “updated” – objectives of Anglo-American policy in Cyprus, a strategically significant island of immense global importance, the same goals that led to the tragedy of 1974 in the past.

He also thoroughly examines the role of Henry Kissinger both in 1974 and today.
