Just a year ago, by a twist of fate, the idea was born among a group of friends to create a book about Che. It would be a book that presents to young people the life and thoughts of this extraordinary man, Ernesto Guevara, also known as Che, Tete, Tato, Ramon... and the legendary guerrilla fighter known to the world as Che.

I never met Che, but I have the privilege of belonging to a generation full of dreams, a generation willing to make sacrifices for the volunteer work that Che preached. We did not hesitate to adopt moral motivations instead of material rewards, working to create the New Man that Che urged us to build. We learned to love Che and to share his thoughts every day.

For the next generations, Che transformed into an image of the guerrilla, becoming something different. Some took his ideas and turned them into slogans, while others made him a symbol of political and social uprising. If someone wants to discover the man behind the symbol, the photographic material is only part of the story. To explain it, we chose excerpts from Che's speeches, diaries, poems, essays, and letters, which show the sharpness and depth of his thought and serve as testimony to his place in history.

This extraordinary man knew how to use his intelligence and judgment in all circumstances, making the most of every moment as if it were the last sip of the mate tea he loved so much. The life he chose gave him the opportunity to determine his fate, and he devoted himself to this challenge with all his passion [...]
