Germany, or otherwise the foreign land, Greece, or otherwise the homeland, dominate the sixteen stories of this collection. The author’s experiential relationship with the place where he has been working for the last few years and his place of origin takes on a dual significance in his texts: on one hand, it is the wandering of a traveler in the paths of an unfamiliar yet familiar geographical space, and on the other hand, it is the journey of the same person through the stations of life, where amidst the dark paths and the difficult alleys, some rays of light shimmer imperceptibly.
The wanderer of Injebeli wakes up every morning, gets up, takes the train from the station, and at various stops encounters pieces of his own self through others. Time does not matter; the seasons change and merely dress the action like a backdrop. His encounter with Ernst, an elderly German, with Fritz Koch, a political prisoner, with Mrs. Victoria, a wise grandmother from Alexandria, and with a wrestler, René, as well as his encounter with love, infidelity, dreams, disillusionments, and unfulfilled desires form the outline of his personal Odyssey.
The stories of the collection are small or large stops in events and moments, images and experiences that to various degrees we have all lived, in the small or the great of our existence. A journey with regular stops in our so complexly simple everyday life...
