Drama fantasy by Oscar Wilde, which he originally wrote in French and was translated into English by his lover, Alfred Douglas. The work was banned in England and was performed in Paris in 1893 by Sarah Bernhardt.
In England, censorship allowed the performance of the work only after the author's death. It deals with the well-known story from the Bible of the lewd Salome, who convinced Herod to behead John the Baptist.
