The most famous and radical work of the Italian author, written in 1921, opened new paths in the contemporary European drama.

In a theater, the troupe is preparing a performance when suddenly the six members of a family appear, creations of a writer who began to write a play but never finished it. These six characters ask the theater director to stage a play about their own lives, so they can gain full theatrical existence.

Pirandello explores the concepts of `mask` and `face`, `contract` and `truth`, `existence` and `entity` to showcase their striking contrast.
