Luckily, I hadn't lifted it too high for it to fall on me and scald me! Now I hold it with oven mitts to pour the coffee into the cup because I feel bad about throwing it away after just one use. And the red color fades, but that doesn't affect anything. It's better to get one with a plastic handle integrated into a plastic base. They last for years, even if they cost 3-4 euros!
