The elimination of the Soviet threat against Yugoslavia and the gradual rapprochement between Moscow and Belgrade (1961/62) rendered the military cooperation of Belgrade with Athens and Ankara a matter of minor importance, which meant the nullification of the Balkan Pact of 1953.
Thus, the evolution of Soviet-Yugoslav relations had a significant impact on the shaping of Yugoslavia's Balkan policy.
