Description

"Twelfth Night or What You Will" is dedicated to the 400 years of Shakespeare (1564-1616), the greatest playwright and poet, who, alongside the timeless and universal magic of his pen, had, among all moderns and ancients, the widest and most understanding soul, and whose faithful mirror of manners and life has the stability of truth.

The translation by the Award-winning translator and theatrical person Aristeidis Lavrentzou formed the backbone of the performance by the "Thespis" troupe from Brussels in the spring of 2017.

Let death come and let me enter, into a sorrowful cypress. Let my breath depart so that I do not live, for love relentless I die. With my white shroud of fir, prepare it. Faithful until my death, remember this. No flowers fragrant should scatter on my coffin. Remains, my grave, and bones, let no friend greet. Thousands of sobs to be avoided, somewhere let them bury me, love's eyes may not find me to weep for me. (Feste, Act Two, Scene 4)

O, sleepless love, thirsting for the new, that while you feel and embrace everything like a wide sea, whatever comes to you, however precious and great, one moment is enough to devalue it, to lessen it. Countless forms of erotic desire: It is the most perfect spectacle. (Orsino, Act One, Scene 1)

When one is generous, with a clear conscience and free spirit, those things that others consider cannonballs, they see as arrows for birds. (Olivia, Act One, Scene 5)

How easy it is for the stamp of a beautiful seducer to be etched on the waxy heart of a woman! (Viola, Act Two, Scene 2)

Madness runs through the world like the sun. It radiates everywhere. (Feste, Act Three, Scene 1)

Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them. (Malvolio, Act Two, Scene 5)
