The present study is structured into three chapters. The first chapter examines the historical and architectural outline of the chapel and the founding inscription with the names of the two founders, Dimitrios and Makarios.

The second chapter presents the iconographic program of the chapel and analyzes in five sections the individual iconographic cycles and representations of saints.

In the third chapter, which is structured into five sections, there is an illustration and stylistic analysis of the compositions, the human figure, the landscape, the design, the folds, the color, the Western elements, the sources from which the painter draws inspiration, his work, and the influence he has on later artists.

The post-Byzantine painting in Mount Athos during the 16th century exhibits tremendous flourishing, which naturally coincides with favorable historical circumstances up until 1569, when Sultan Selim II confiscated and appropriated the real estate of all the Monasteries of Mount Athos. Thus, the 16th century proves to be the "golden age" of post-Byzantine painting in Mount Athos.
