If you have a Gear VR model before 2017 that already had the controller, buy it with your eyes closed. It will transform the experience. I already had a compatible gamepad (the Samsung EI-PG20 which, by the way, was worth its 40 euros) but the game felt completely different and looked much poorer compared to the regular VR (Rift, Vive, PSVR) that had pairs of controllers tracking hand movements. The Gear VR Controller, unlike those, can only be used with one hand (it asks during installation whether it will be used left or right) and is not as advanced, but it makes existing games more enjoyable since the movement feels more natural. Also, some games require it and won’t play otherwise. Two free games, Bait which is a relaxing fishing game and Dead And Buried which is a shooting game in the Wild West, will reward you. However, your money will go much further if you pay 5€ I think for Drop Dead, which makes the experience feel like a real Oculus Rift. Especially if you watch comparative videos on YouTube, the differences in graphics and feel are not very large. The controller becomes a gun in your hand; when you lower it, it reloads, and you lift it to aim at zombies. Enjoyable. In End Space, the controller becomes the upright joystick of the aircraft in the cockpit, while in Overtake Traffic Racing, you hold it in one hand as you would an invisible steering wheel and drive; a bit of a boring driving game, but there aren't many good racing games on Gear VR.
Finally, I see prices for the New Gear VR of 2017 (model R324) which is essentially a similar New Gear VR of 2016 (model R323) along with the Gear VR controller that is sold here separately. While initially the New Gear VR was sold for 99 euros, now it is 41. Together with the controller and shipping, we remain under 100. While the entire New Gear VR package with Controller and shipping is 150.
Also, the older Gear VR (Innovator, i.e., R321 from 2014 and Consumer, i.e., R323 from 2015) and the R323 from 2016. The disadvantages of the previous models: they do not work with later devices like the Galaxy S7, etc., and they have a slightly smaller field of view or FOV.
So there is no reason at the moment for anyone to prefer the package with Gear AND controller over buying them separately. The New Gear VR R323 of 2016 is exactly the same and also has an adapter for the Note 7 (regardless of it being withdrawn as problematic) which also works for the Galaxy S8/S8+ as confirmed by others in forums.
Εαν εχετε Gear VR μοντελο πριν του 2017 που ειχε ηδη τον controller αγοραστε το με κλειστα ματια.
Θα μεταμορφωσει την εμπειρια.
Ειχα ηδη συμβατο gamepad (το samsung EI-PG20 που παρεπιπτοντως αξιζε τα 40 του ευρω) αλλα το παιχνιδι ηταν τελειως διαφορετικο και φαινοταν πολυ πιο φτωχο σε σχεση με τα κανονικα vr (rift, vive, psvr) που ειχαν ζευγαρια χειριστηριων που ακολουθουσαν τις κινησεις των χεριων.
Το Gear VR Controller μπορει σ' αντιθεση με αυτα να ειναι μονο για το ενα χερι (ρωταει στην εγκατασταση εαν θα χρησιμοποιηθει αριστερο ή δεξι) και μαλιστα οχι τοσο εξελιγμενο αλλα κανει τα υπαρχοντα παιχνιδια διασκεδαστικοτερα αφου η κινηση ειναι πιο φυσικη.
Επισης καποια το απαιτουν και δεν παιζουν διαφορετικα.
Δυο δωρεαν παιχνιδια, το Bait που ειναι χαλαρο παιχνιδι ψαρεματος και το Dead And Buried που ειναι πιστολιδι στην αγρια δυση θα σας αποζημιωσουν.
Τα λεφτα σας ομως θα πιασουν πολυ περισσοτερο τοπο εαν πληρωσετε 5€ νομιζω για Drop Dead που κανει την εμπειρια να μοιαζει σαν πραγματικο Oculus Rift. Ειδικα αν δειτε στο youtube συγκριτικα βιντεο οι διαφορες σε γραφικα και αισθηση δεν ειναι πολυ μεγαλες. Το χειστηριο γινεται στο χερι σου πιστολι, οταν το κατεβαζεις γεμιζει και το σηκωνεις για να σημαδευεις ζομπι. Απολαυστικο.
Στο end space το χειριστηριο γινεται ορθιος μοχλος του αεροσκαφους στο πιλοτηριο ενω στο Overtake Traffic Racing το κρατας στο ενα χερι οπως θα κρατουσες ενα αορατο τιμονι και οδηγας, λιγο βαρετο παιχνιδι οδηγησης αλλα δεν υπαρχουν καλα racing στο gear vr.
Τελος, βλεπω τιμες το New gear vr του 2017 (μοντελο R324) που ειναι στην ουσια ενα παρομοιο New gear vr του 2016 (μοντελο R323) μαζι με το gear vr controller που πουλιεται εδω σκετο.
Ενω αρχικα το New Gear VR πουλιοταν 99 ευρω τωρα εχει 41. Μαζι με το controller και τα μεταφορικα παραμενουμε κατω απο 100. Ενω ολοκληρο το πακετο New gear vr με Conroller και μεταφορικα εχει 150.
Επισης τα παλιοτερα Gear VR (innovator δηλαδη R321 του 2014 και consumer δηλαδη R323 του 2015)το R323 του 2016. Τα μειονεκτηματα των προηγουμενων μοντελων: δεν δουλευουν με μεταγενεστερες συσκευες πχ galaxy S7 κλπ καθως και εχουν ελαφρως μικροτερη γωνια ορασης ή FOV
Οποτε δεν υπαρχει κανενας λογος προς το παρον να προτιμησει κανεις το πακετο με gear ΚΑΙ controller απο το να τα παρει ξεχωριστα. Το new gear vr R323 του 2016 ειναι ακριβως ιδιο και επισης εχει ανταπτορα για τον note 7 (ασχετως που το αποσυραν ως προβληματικο) που κανει ΚΑΙ για τα galaxy s8/s8+ απ' οτι επιβεβαιωσαν αλλοι σε φορουμ.
