FRANCA RAME: This is a theatrical work focused on the condition of women, particularly their sexual slavery. The play has been performed and continues to be shown in more than 30 countries, both in theaters and universities: unfortunately, the status of women is the same everywhere.
The protagonist of this theatrical work concerning women is the man – or, rather, his gender! He is not present in "flesh and blood," but he is always here, among us, large, enormous, hanging over our heads… and crushing us.
DARIO FO: We must take advantage of the fact that we, the theater people, the intellectuals, the actors, have the right to speak and the ability to inform the youth. We have the duty to tell life. Because what impresses me the most is the deep ignorance that prevails.
