Demian is a restless young student trying to discover himself. His quests lead him to the 'Fat Man,' a very eccentric psychologist who helps him confront life and find answers to his questions in a very original way: in each meeting, he narrates a story, either classic or modern, 'Eastern' or 'Western,' stemming from the oral folk tradition or directly from the Fat Man's imagination.
The stories begin to function as parables, and Demian calms his anxieties and insecurities, maturing rather than finding 'ready-made solutions' and 'recipes for happiness'... The relationships between the therapist and the patient are also not conventional or predictable. Quarrels, disagreements, sympathy, dislike, hatred, and love are freely expressed, thus creating two unique literary heroes with flesh and blood, endearing and familiar to the reader.

I can't say it's the best I've read. I found it very tiring to read. The examples are nice, but I prefer a novel that keeps my interest throughout.. the truth is I was swayed by the positive comments.. I don't agree..
Δεν μπορώ να πω ότι είναι ότι καλύτερο έχω διαβάσει. το βρήκα πάρα πολύ κουραστικό στην ανάγνωση. ωραία τα παραδείγματα, αλλά προτιμώ ένα μυθιστόρημα που μου κρατάει το ενδιαφέρον σε όλη την διάρκεια.. η αλήθεια είναι παρασύρθηκα από τα θετικά σχόλια.. δεν συμφωνώ..
I think it is the second most beautiful book I have read so far (The first is "Think Like a Monk" by Jay Shetty)!
It has so many truths, so many accurate things, so many clever points.
It consists of small independent stories with a background story and they are all gems!!!
I might read it again in the future!
It will easily be recommended to friends and will also be a gift!
Νομίζω πως είναι το δεύτερο ωραιότερο βιβλίο που έχω διαβάσει έως τώρα (Πρώτο είναι το «Σκεφου σαν μοναχός» του Jay Shetty)!
Έχει τόσες αλήθειες, τόσα εύστοχα πράγματα, τόσα έξυπνα σημεία.
Αποτελείτε από μικρές αυτοτελείς ιστορίες με ιστορία στο παρασκήνιο και όλες είναι διαμαντακια!!!
Πιθανόν να το ξανά διαβάσω στο μέλλον!
Θα προταθεί πανεύκολα σε φίλους καθώς και θα αποτελέσει δώρο!
Jorge Bucay is an excellent psychologist. His writing is so essential. Every sentence of his is worth it, let alone every story in this book. We are talking about self-improvement with all the essence of the word.
