Description

The subject of the book is modern Greek poetry and its "journey" through time. It aims to outline the course of modern Greek poetry through the main historical milestones and the most significant poetic movements, while also interpreting representative poems.

It aims to combine theory with practice, to serve as a functional tool for educators and students in the teaching process, as well as a handy book for anyone who wishes to become acquainted with poetry.

The first part of the book includes elements of literary theory, aiming to illuminate the multiplicity of the poetic phenomenon and the various perspectives from which it can be approached. The second part provides a concise overview of the history of modern Greek literature from its beginnings to the present day, in order to present the broader context and the key historical milestones that shaped the poetic landscape in Greece.

The third part addresses the most significant poetic movements that influenced the course of modern Greek poetry, their main representatives, and indicative samples of their writing, which are interpreted. At the end of the book, there is an Appendix, which provides basic elements of metrics, the main figures of speech, and indicative definitions of poetry.

The Appendix includes the poetic texts that are commented on in the book and a comparative table of European and modern Greek movements.
