De Blob is a 3D platform game where players use the Wii Remote/Nunchuck to guide the hero, de Blob. His goal is to replace the gray color imposed by the I.N.K.T. Corporation on Chroma City and its inhabitants, the Raydians, with a variety of vibrant colors. Players must acquire paint and throw de Blob onto buildings, walls, statues, streets, and the sky above Chroma City.

As de Blob jumps and adds color wherever he lands, his paint supply depletes and he begins to dry out. Players must collect more paint and rejuvenate in pools and in front of water towers scattered throughout the city. At the beginning of the game, the available colors are red, blue, and yellow, but these can be mixed to create other shades.

De Blob makes contact with other characters known as the 'Color Revolutionaries' and receives more and more missions to free Chroma City from the dire influence of the I.N.K.T. Corporation, collecting points and progressing through the game.
