Labor deregulation and the future of pensions

The new landscape of the Social Security System is clearly that the third Memorandum (Law 4336/2015), the new social security law (4387/2016), with the exacerbations of the supplementary fourth Memorandum (Law 4472/2017) and its implementation law (Law 4475/2017), is a negative European and global model of violent demolition of the National Social Security System of a European country, which has been built with so much effort and struggle by Greek workers, society as a whole, year by year!

Therefore, this is not a "reform," meaning the improvement and advancement of a system to achieve improved quantitative and qualitative goals for the insured and retirees, but rather a harsh neoliberal ANTI-REFORM!

It is a comprehensive plan of "social Darwinism," which despite the occasional neoliberal cries and pressures, none of the declared neoliberal governments in Greece and Europe have dared to introduce.

The consequences of the "Katrougalos Law" will be very serious for all insured individuals (mainly the youth and women) and retirees, as the various neoliberal institutions and principles it introduces, applied cumulatively, will lead to a social security system of a "Victorian society," where wage labor and social security will simply become a mechanism for producing new impoverished individuals.

In the devastated faces of their parents and grandparents, the young men and women will henceforth see the outcome of their own working lives, creating extremely negative prospects for society, the economy, and the nation as a whole. The people now have the voice, and first among all, our proud youth.
