The presence in our time of a person like Harold Pinter - a great Nobel laureate playwright, poet, actor, and director - is something special not only for his homeland, Britain, but for the whole world.

Because it is rare for a person to manage to combine so powerfully the great and original literary talent with a specific, sincere, strong, and courageous political voice, at a time when most, even in the field of Literature and the Arts, prefer to remain silent. But not Pinter.

Sometimes through his theatrical or poetic work, sometimes through his statements and participation in gatherings and protests against illegal wars, inhumane torture, and unacceptable political assassinations, against the imposition of the powerful (read the USA and their allies) and globalization, which leads our planet to even greater exploitation and destitution, Pinter compels us to awaken, to think, and to take a stand.
