In Railway Empire for PS4, the action takes place in 1830s North America, where the player builds an extensive railway network. They acquire locomotives and carriages, construct stations, maintenance facilities, factories and tourist attractions, and organise the transport of passengers and goods. Managing staff and researching technologies help the business grow, while the player competes against up to three rival companies.
The game includes an extensive campaign, challenging scenarios and a network-building mode without financial restrictions. Progress spans five eras of technological innovation, and rivals can also be challenged through sabotage or industrial espionage.
