Description

Dream, courage, and effort are the secrets to progress. The book: Rigoula the little fox wants to learn how to make hats. "My dear, have you lost your mind? When has a fox ever made hats?" her mother would angrily reply. But Rigoula insisted, and one day… The series: In order for children to secure a healthy social life based on effective relationships, they must cultivate empathy, the ability to put themselves in someone else's shoes, to understand and feel things the same way another person experiences them. This need is met by the illustrated books in this series, which promote emotional intelligence. With the proposed approach for parents and educators, they aim to introduce children to see the world through the eyes of others, after first learning to recognize and manage their own emotions. The author: Yolanda Tsoroni-Georgiadis is a graduate of the Faculty of Law, the Pedagogical Academy, and the Department of Education of the University of Athens and has further trained at the Marasleios Teacher’s College. She worked for many years in public education, writes articles for educational magazines, volunteers in organizations promoting literature, is an active member of the Women's Literary Society, and has published many books for children and studies on folklore content.

Rigoula is a little fox... But she is not like all the others... She doesn't want to chase chickens and geese, nor sneak into henhouses. Her dream is to become a hat maker! Although at first her parents did not agree, she eventually went with her mother to the city, to the nicest hat shop to take lessons. And there the little fox unfolded all her innate talent and shone with her original creations.
Usually, we parents wish for our children health, luck, and happiness in their lives! The best way for them to gain all three is, while they are young, to give them the right tools. But when the time comes, we must take a step back and let them spread their wings and follow their dreams... Even if they are not to our liking!
That's exactly what Rigoula did... She felt inside that she was a different kind of fox and didn't like doing what foxes usually do... She wanted to shake off the labels and titles and simply become a hat maker and therefore happy.
And her parents did the right thing and enrolled her in the best school for hat makers, even if at first they did not agree with her choice.
How lucky are those who have a child who, from a young age, recognizes their uniqueness, knows exactly what they want to follow in life, and is determined to do so, no matter what their parents or the world says...
In our children's library, we have other books from the same series... "The Two Tails," "So What," "The Ladder of Love," and "The Island"... But "The Fox the Hat Maker" is truly a fantastic, educational book!
The cover draws you in on its own. It is in a bright ochre that makes it luminous and cheerful. In the foreground, a beautiful fox wearing the most impressive and original patchwork hat!
With the help of this book, I talked with my children about a profession that no longer exists... That of the hat maker! As well as about earlier times when almost everyone wore hats... Then, we searched together on the internet for funny and original hats!
A little while ago, in art class, my children each made a hat for Halloween. So it was a good opportunity for me to combine this book with their hats, making the reading interactive!
