Varietal Composition: Blended Malt
Region: New Orleans
Tasting Characteristics: In 1870, a young man named MW Heron moved to New Orleans, filled with dreams of a new life. He worked as a bartender, serving whiskey to his clientele. However, he found the whiskeys of that era to be harsh. For this reason, he decided to experiment with different flavors, and 4 years later, in 1874, he created a new drink with a milder and sweeter taste. He named it Cuffs and Buttons, and it soon became a famous drink throughout the city of New Orleans. A year later, after winning its first award in an international competition, he renamed it to Southern Comfort, a name he believed reflected the authenticity of this drink. Today, so many years later, Southern Comfort still represents the authentic character of New Orleans, this very unique city of America.
