The Greeks have been taught for decades - and continue to be taught to this day - the history of Greece, that is, the history of the free Greek state.

However, they have learned almost nothing about Greek History, that is, the history of the Greek nation, which lived and flourished not only within the narrow borders of today's free Greek state but also in the Forgotten Homelands.

There - despite the clearly more unfavorable conditions - it managed to lay the foundations of modern Greek culture (Constantinople, Smyrna, Trabzon, Edirne, Plovdiv, Monastir, Moscopole, etc.) developing first there a marvelous modern Greek culture thanks to its good economic situation and closer contact with Europe.
