The systematic and institutional interest in corruption is intense and relatively current, while the previous coverage of the topic was mainly limited to bribery. This monograph examines the multidimensional phenomenon of corruption, which is not only a "top" problem but one that affects all levels of authority, jurisdiction, power, influence, or cunning.

It includes issues such as the approach to corruption within the frameworks of the UN, OECD, and World Bank, international efforts to combat corruption, the legislative work of the OECD to fight corruption and specifically bribery, the conceptual definition of bribery and corruption, corruption and the criminal control of crime, among others.

The work is complemented by appendices of relevant legislative texts, both Greek and foreign.
