For forty-three years, I have been at Vima. I started in September 1974 and continue to this day, despite all the problems that have arisen at this historic publication. I was hired as a reporter and will leave as a reporter.
In recent years, while I took over the "VIMAtodotis" column, on the last page of the newspaper, I faced continuous harassment but also great successes. It was considered the most popular column in all of the Athenian press, based on measurements. Everyone, especially politicians, wanted a mention of their name, even if it was negative, as some told me.
I worked for twenty-eight years at ERT: initially at YENED, then at ERT-2, and finally at ERT in Agia Paraskevi, good and bad years. For forty-three years, journalism has nourished me, and I have nourished it.
In this book, I have collected some excerpts of experiences from these years, small but – I believe – symbolic, for a time that often believed it would deceive time. Within these, you will find the joys and sorrows of a journalist, but also anxieties, passions, and mistakes. You will laugh at serious events and cry at the incidents. It was all journalism. Nothing more, nothing less.
