The ENIGMA, a metaphorical description of something that is presented as a question for solution, has roots that go deep into time. The myth of Oedipus, who solved the riddle of the Sphinx, the tradition that Homer died from grief for not finding the solution to a riddle, and the contests to the death among wise men for solving riddles, highlight the seriousness of the subject in antiquity.

In the following centuries, the riddle became limited to the role of a mental sport and a means of entertainment. Although in relative decline, the riddle still survives to this day. In this book, the author collects and comments on representative riddles about the human body and its functions.
