Description

The manuscript was written to serve the growing and urgent needs of fellow physics teachers, candidates for the ASEP examinations.

It consists of four sections:

  • a comprehensive formula book with theoretical elements,
  • ten multiple-choice questionnaires (tests) with fifty questions each,
  • their answers with explanations,
  • the topics of the ASEP exams.

We attempted to include as many types as possible in the formula book and to highlight some relationships between them, as well as to include some simple proofs, which are interesting as a methodology for addressing exercises, so as to assist in both memorization and understanding of the basic types.

Therefore, the formula book effectively serves, to some extent, as a summary of theory, focusing on the points where the most difficulties arise, namely those corresponding to the material between university and high school.

In the second and main part, we have 10 questionnaires (tests) of 50 questions each. In each test, the questions are distributed as follows: 1 to 12 from the curriculum of Mechanics, 13 to 17 from the curriculum of Thermodynamics, 18 to 35 from the curriculum of Electromagnetism, 36 to 38 from the curriculum of Nuclear Physics, and 39 to 50 from the curriculum of Modern Physics.

The distribution of questions across the individual chapters of Physics was based approximately on the corresponding distribution of questions in the most recent ASEP exams. In the answers, instead of simply providing the correct answers, we usually justify or prove our answers and sometimes compare between similar cases.

The level of the questions is somewhat more challenging than the corresponding level of the ASEP exams. This is because our goal was not merely to repeat the school material in the form of multiple-choice questions, nor to summarize a vast amount of material from the early university years - "largely useless in preparing for this specific exam" - but to primarily focus on certain topics at the 1st or even 2nd-year university level, which present certain difficulties in understanding and addressing, and which are in the spirit of the ASEP examinations, - to bridge the gap between high school material and the material from the early university years and - to uncover various traps hidden in both the high school material and those generally overlooked.
