Description

This book emerged in response to the demand for written instructions on the techniques of designing and cutting undergarments. Given the current trend towards the elimination of the dividing lines between swimsuits, underwear, and comfortable home wear, I decided to expand the scope of this book to cover all three items.

The technology of designing, cutting, and sewing these garments is now used by numerous producers to create a wide variety of clothing. Even an experienced craftsman is not able to create a perfect pattern in just a few minutes. Therefore, one of the most important qualities of a good craftsman is the ability to somehow exploit these patterns for better utilization.

This ability is similar to that of fashion designers, who use their favorite design in the same collection in various variations, made from different materials and colors. For this reason, where possible, we made suggestions for using a pattern as a basis for other designs - a useful practice that is widely used in the field but is typically not taught.

Another topic rarely addressed by educational books is the selection of the right fabric for each design. Since this choice can directly affect the cutting of the pattern, we provide suggestions regarding the fabrics that should be used for each pattern.

This book is aimed at anyone who wishes to broaden their knowledge on these topics. These individuals may be students, creators, educators, or professionals, or even people who are already working in the field and want to gain knowledge on these subjects.

This book serves the following courses: Fashion, Higher National Diploma, City and Guilds of London Institute.
