Perhaps the most important part of Tsokalidou’s book is the importance she assigns to the role of translanguaging in creativity and how speakers feel about it. Translanguaging, as you will see in this book, offers us all the opportunity to always be at the crossroads in which we language, think, and create in the world.
The question for all of us as scholars and students is whether we can let ourselves be open to just being in the borderlands, inclusive borderlands, without being forced to cross borders. Only then will we be able as human beings to experience liberation and creativity, as we bring down the walls that separate us.
Ofelia García
Rula's work creates connections between the academic community and local communities. The term "translanguaging" fascinated her from the beginning and she found in it a useful interpretative tool for describing complex language use and identity. Thus, she introduced the term translanguaging into the Greek language and began to describe how it develops in real communication situations in the Greek context.
