This book focuses on the education of children from linguistic minorities, that is, those whose mother tongue is not Greek. The book sheds light on the issues from the inside, as it records the views of the socially excluded groups themselves regarding the education of their children.

The difficulties noted are not those of the educational system or the teachers who have minority children in their classes, but the problems as experienced by the children themselves and how their families cope with them. The children speak for themselves without the mediation of specialists, administrative or political representatives, reflecting their personal experiences.

The book is divided into three sections. The first section refers to critical pedagogy, which seeks to help students achieve critical awareness by questioning and challenging power structures and dominant perceptions and practices in education and society at large.

The second section addresses the problems faced by minority children in school as they experience them and how their families cope. The third section includes experiences from educators who have tried educational practices in classrooms and schools with children from linguistic minorities that promise success.

This is a book that fills a real gap in the literature and is aimed at those engaged in education in general but also specifically with the education of minorities.
