Description

Never before has there been so much talk about human relationships, or simply about "relationship" (meaning, in this case, the relationship between a man and a woman), and never before have these relationships been so unstable and fragile. The person of liquid modernity - as Zygmunt Bauman calls postmodernity, the society of the last decades, with its rapid pace of change, distinguishing it from modernity itself (Solid Modernity) - creates bonds that are inherently loose, so that they can be easily, quickly, and painlessly dissolved whenever circumstances change. The central form of our liquid modern era is precisely the person without permanent, stable, lasting, resilient bonds, which on the one hand leads them to a desperate search for identity, self-definition, and self-affirmation, and on the other hand, causes them a deep sense of insecurity. The triumph of individualism in postmodernity ultimately led to the death of the autonomous individual of modernity and replaced it with another, incapable of trust and commitment, immersed in conformism and fear.
